About us
We are SBPTA
A group of appraisers, researchers and client relations specialists who run commercial property tax appeals across North Carolina. During an appeal you will likely hear from several of us.
Each member of our team focuses on certain elements of the appeal process. To ensure the best results, please provide information requested in a timely manner. If anyone on our team does not have an answer, they will coordinate with the appropriate team member and come back to you.
You as the property owner know your property better than anyone, and your input will be needed to get the best possible result.

Why an appraiser
Every appeal is an argument about value
Property tax appeal services are offered by a variety of professionals including lawyers, accountants and brokers. An appraiser is a professional in property valuation, which is the reason for any appeal. Many of our clients are lawyers and other professionals who do not have the expertise of an appraiser.
“If you have a toothache, would you call a lawyer?”
Michael has been presented as an expert witness in over 40 jurisdictions in North Carolina and around the country. A lawyer is not required nor needed during the local appeal process. If you have a toothache, would you call a lawyer? Appraisers have their own dictionary and speak the language of valuation. If you decide to appeal, engage a real estate expert and cut out the middle man.
